Vi samarbejder

  • Det er vigtigt, at de grupper, vi arbejder med, er passioneret, motiverede og drevet. Så snarere end at pålægge løsninger, Vi arbejder kun med grupper, der henvender os for at få hjælp, og invitere og velkommen vores samarbejde. Vi har derfor danne partnerskaber med eksisterende organisationer, der samler forskere, frivillige, lokale aktivister og samfundsgrupper. På denne måde, kan vi være sikre på, at initiativerne vil fortsætte efter vores engagement er slut.

Vi reagerer på lokale behov

  • Vores lokale partnere har ejerskab til deres projekter - de fortæller os deres mål, mål og behov, så vi kan arbejde sammen med dem for at finde frem til, hvordan vi kan hjælpe.

Vi bemyndige

Vi kapacitetsopbygge Zanzibari samfund gennem uddannelse, uddannelse og vidensdeling mellem grupperne. Vi giver folk med de oplysninger og værktøjer, de har brug for at bo og arbejde på en miljømæssig bæredygtig måde.

The Objects of Sustainable East Africa

1) To advance community-led sustainable development in East Africa by:

  • Promoting public understanding and awareness of how the environment and natural resources are vital to sustaining lives and livelihoods, and are put at risk by unsustainable practices.
  • Promoting the preservation, conservation, protection and rehabilitation of the environment and the prudent use of resources.
  • Promoting sustainable means of achieving economic growth and regeneration to relieve poverty and improve the conditions of life in socially, economically and environmentally disadvantaged communities.
  • Promoting, undertaking and supporting study and research into factors that contribute to environmental degradation and unsustainable resource use and the most appropriate ways to mitigate them, ensuring that the useful results of such study are disseminated to the public at large.
  • Promoting and facilitating effective multilateral engagement in sustainable development and the environment by establishing a cross-sectoral network to advance responsible management and equitable and sustainable use of shared resources.
  • Promoting the issues of importance to, and achievements of, effective sustainable development projects to other sectors and potential supporters and collaborators.
  • Employing such communication services and technology and creative approaches as appropriate to reach out and share knowledge and expertise, and to promote, celebrate, provide incentives for and otherwise advance best practice in sustainability as widely as possible.
  • Such other means as may from time to time be determined by the Board of Trustees.

2) To collaborate with active and motivated local groups to develop a programme of replicable sustainable development initiatives demonstrating best practice by:

  • Evaluating existing local resources, capacity, practices, needs, aspirations and other circumstances related to sustainable development.
  • Reviewing effective existing local and international sustainable development initiatives to identify best practice most appropriate and relevant to local circumstances.
  • Adapting existing best practice to develop and pilot creative initiatives tailored to local circumstances, advancing self-sufficiency and reducing reliance on donor support by incorporating income-generating opportunities wherever possible.
  • Procuring or assisting in the procurement of equipment, tools, technical skills, training, facilities, etc. that may be required to implement initiatives.
  • Monitoring and evaluating progress continually, modifying as necessary, to ensure that initiatives are, and remain effective as circumstances evolve, and become models of best-practice easily replicable by others in comparable circumstances.
  • Publicising our programme of model initiatives widely and by diverse means to promote wide uptake and replication by those in comparable circumstances.
  • Such other means as may from time to time be determined by the Board of Trustees.

3) To empower communities to become independent and self-sufficient as they achieve and promote sustainability in their lives and work by:

  • Acting as a resource for all parties and institutions interested in developing sustainable solutions by providing or assisting in the provision or procurement of, education, training, retraining, technical skills and assistance, business advice, consultancy, internship opportunities, mentorship and other necessary support, enlisting the expertise of volunteers, scientists, researchers, students, consultants, eco-entrepreneurs and other collaborators of any nationality as appropriate.
  • Building capacity and developing the skills of disadvantaged communities and groups such as the unemployed, kvinder, the young, the disabled, the poor, and the otherwise disenfranchised in such a way that they are better equipped to identify and meet their needs through wise use of natural resources and achieve financial self-sufficiency in their lives and work.
  • Providing support and mentorship to equip leaders of local initiatives with the skills and capacity needed to plan, manage and operate sustainable enterprises and initiatives effectively and independently while generating a sustainable income, and to spread knowledge in their communities and beyond of both why such enterprises and initiatives are necessary and how best to implement them.
  • Cultivating an aspirational culture characterised by self-belief, optimism, openness, integritet, ownership, ambition, creativity, imagination, inspiring others and giving hope, community ambition and pride, enterprise, encouragement, respect, environmental appreciation and environmental sustainability, mutual support and empowerment.
  • Such other means as may from time to time be determined by the Board of Trustees.

4) To acquire and develop the necessary tools and infrastructure and maximise the reach, impact and effectiveness of the advancement of sustainability in East Africa by:

  • Building up and developing a comprehensive and accessible multimedia library of effective environmental education, awareness raising and project management toolkits, books, videos, guides, and diverse other resources with online access where possible.
  • Accumulating such assets as might be required for implementation of these Objects such as technical tools and supplies, information technology and other electronic equipment, vehicles, or any other facilities, property, material goods, or other resources as might be useful.
  • Establishing and operating an Eco-Centre or Centres from which to base operations and accommodate the facilities above and be a fully-equipped research and learning environment.
  • Such other means as may from time to time be determined by the Board of Trustees.

5) To perform any other Function(s) or Objective(s) approved by the Board of Trustees.
